About Westwood College Houston, Texas

Originally known as the Denver Institute of Technology, Westwood College was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1953. Over the years, Westwood College has grown and now offers degree programs in Design, Business, Computer & Information Technology, Healthcare and Industrial Services. Now the college includes eighteen campuses across the United States.  Students also can enroll in online programs without attending campus based courses.

Graphic Design AND Multi Media Program

This program prepares students for entry-level jobs in the graphic design and multimedia industry. The program teaches students how to create designs that visually communicate in both print and multimedia environments. Both technical and general education courses help students to develop skills in logic, critical thinking, problem solving, and general communication. Graduates are prepared for positions as production artists, graphic designers, Web page designers, and multimedia designers.

Upon graduation from the program, students should be able to create and design web sites, prepare digital files for pre-press, create illustrations and layouts using software, build a portfolio, create and animate 3D objects, create presentations using story boards and hand-rendered layouts, and professionally communicate graphic design concepts.

Associate's Degree - Architectural Drafting Design & CAD Technology

An Associate's Degree course of study, the Architectural Drafting Design & CAD Technology program at Westwood College focuses on the areas of drafting, engineering, and architecture. In addition to learning the basics of AutoCAD, students of the Architectural Drafting Design & CAD Technology degree program will learn the skills needed in order to become a skilled CAD operator, discovering how to create architectural-based technical drawings.

Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication

Available at Westwood College as a Bachelor's degree program, the Visual Communication curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for employment in the fields of animation, advertising, multimedia production, and illustration. Coursework in the Bachelor's in Visual Communication program includes courses in critical thinking, management, communication, design, and the technical skills inherent to the field. Upon graduation, students may seek employment at design companies, web-design firms, design departments, and internet companies.
