Graphic Design Program

Corporate identity programs, brochures, product packaging, advertisements, video graphics, computer imagery, signs, exhibits, and interactive Web and multimedia – all these are created by graphic designers to communicate effectively with consumers. Graphic designers are visual communicators who combine principles of page design, color, typography, symbology, graphic and photographic imagery, and illustration in creative, innovative ways to inform, motivate, sell, educate, or entertain.

The Associate of Science degree program consists of 90 credit hours and features courses that provide you with an education in everything from digital layout and concept design to basic web design and typography. Graduates of the program will be prepared for entry-level positions in the graphic design field.

The Bachelor of Science degree program, consisting of 180 credit hours with 128 credits focusing on the field of study, provides you with an in-depth education in graphic design. While taking a mix of core curriculum and major courses, you will attain a fundamental grounding in graphic design, including an introduction to the theory and practice of print production, electronic publishing, advertising illustration, and sales promotion.

Information Technology

Columbia Graphic Design StudentsSouth University – Columbia offers an associates’ and a bachelors’ degree in Information Technology. The associates’ degree focuses on software development technologies, using industry-current tools. Students learn database design and development, web/internet software development, object-oriented program design and modeling, and client-server 3-tier development by using a hands-on approach that gives them actual experience that will be useful when looking for a job.

In the bachelors’ program, students cover the same software material, as well as covering industry hardware, like computers, networking equipment, telecommunications equipment, and multimedia. Bachelors’ students also gain real-world experience that allows them to fully learn the IT field.
