About the Pittsburgh Technical Institute
Since opening in 1946, Pittsburgh Technical Institute (PTI) has made the necessary changes to stay on the razor-sharp edge of training students in fields that meet industries’ needs. Sometimes growth has come student by student, sometimes by leaps and bounds, as PTI added entire programs, schools and divisions. It has forged a robust, 60-year educational history.
Programs are designed to meet workplace needs and are introduced as new technologies drive industry standards. In PTI’s six decades of change, success always has been measured by the same standards: the placement of each PTI graduate in his or her field and the performance of every PTI graduate on the job.
Graphic Design Program
The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that jobs for graphic designers should increase because of the rapidly expanding market for Web-based information. The expansion of the video entertainment market, including television, movies, video, and made-for-Internet outlets are employment opportunities for graphic designers.
The art of visualizing ideas, graphic design students at PTI learn the basics of design, color theory, art, and typography. With hands-on training at the center of the program, students learn to problem solve in a way that is critical, logical, and creative. As a result, graduates of the graphic design program are able to serve their company or client with great communication skills.
Employers who hire graphic designers are printing companies, design studios, corporate art departments, public relation firms, packaging companies, and newspaper/magazine publishers.
Licensing and Accreditation
PTI is the first two-year career school in Western Pennsylvania to receive regional accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available in the form of grants, loans, and scholarships. At PTI, many students find that these grants, loans and scholarships cover the cost of tuition. To find out more information, fill out the information request form, and a representative from the school will contact you directly.
