The Art Institutes International Minneapolis, MNThe Art Institutes International, conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis, helps prepare students for careers in the visual and practical arts. The Art Institutes International Minnesota was founded in 1964 by Petrena Lowthian, who came from London to establish what was to become Lowthian College.

The school offered post-secondary educational programs of study. In 1981, the institution was authorized to award the Associate of Applied Science degree and in 2000, the institution was granted approval to award the Bachelor of Science degree.

Graphic Design

The Art Institutes International offers both an Associate of Applied Sciences and Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design. By graduation, Graphic Design students have acquired the training and the portfolio necessary to interview for entry-level positions in advertising agencies, design studios, publishing houses, corporate communications departments, and television studios.

Graduates work as production artists, graphic designers, assistant designers, assistant art directors, paste-up artists, production coordinators, and computer artists. After gaining professional experience, many graduates go on to advanced positions such as art director, creative director, studio manager, or production manager. Associate of Applied Science - Interior Design

Bachelor of Science - Interior Design

Associate of Applied Science - Interior Planning with AutoCAD

An 128 credit-hour program, the Associate of Applied Science in Interior Planning with AutoCAD degree program is geared towards students who desire to pursue employment as a designer, planner, plans checker, or draftsperson. In addition to learning the skills needed in order to become an entry-level drafter, the AAS in Interior Planning with AutoCAD program focuses on building construction, codes specifications, line work, lettering, and material selection. Students of this curriculum at The Art Institutes International Minnesota will also learn about Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), and other industry-related computer and advanced software.

Bachelor of Fine Arts - Photography

Bachelor of Science - Media Arts & Animation

A 12, 11-week quarter program, the Bachelor of Science in Media Arts & Animation is a great launching pad for a career in computer animation. Mastering the skills of design, drawing, and image manipulation, students learn to create animation using different types of computer animation software.

Emphasizing project management and art direction, students will build 3-D models, in addition to editing and modifying video and composite 2-D and 3-D animation. Upon graduation, students are prepared to enter the workforce as 2-D and 3-D animators, broadcast graphic artists, and special effects animators, in addition to other arts and animation specialties.

Bachelor of Science - Visual Effects & Motion Graphics

Teaching the fundamentals of aesthetic and design awareness, the Bachelor of Science in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics degree will guide students in developing a portfolio to gain employment in the fields of compositing, visual effects, motion graphics, visual display, and corporate communication. A 12, 11-week quarter program, this course of study emphasizes the technological and design foundations essential to the field.

Diploma in Web Design & Interactive Communications

The Diploma in Web Design and Interactive Communications program from Art Institute teaches students about creating web pages with a particular look, functionality, and feel in mind. This means offering a payment plan that will allow students to budget for their entire program. Student Financial Services strives to make monthly payments as affordable as possible.

Student Financial Planners will review your completed financial aid applications using a federally required calculation to determine eligibility for financial aid. The Planner will then work with the student and his/her family to devise a Student Financial Plan to help cover educational expenses, based on financial aid eligibility and family circumstances.
