About Westwood College Los Angeles, California
Westwood College was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1953 and was previously known as the Denver Institute
of Technology. Since then, Westwood College has expanded to offer degree programs in Business,
Design, Computer & Information Technology, Industrial Services, and Healthcare. Today, Westwood
includes eighteen campuses in Georgia; Southern California; the Chicago area; Denver, Colorado;
and Texas. Students also can enroll in online programs without attending campus based courses.
Students at Westwood College include a wide range of ages -- from recent high-school graduates and young adults to working adults who want to acquire new skills. Students come to Westwood from across the United States and around the world.
Graphic Design AND Multi Media Program
The Graphic Design and Multimedia program prepares students for entry-level jobs in the graphic design and multimedia industry. Students learn to create effective designs that communicate visually in both print and multimedia environments. The combination of technical and general education courses in the program helps students develop skills in critical thinking, logic, communication, and problem solving. The program prepares graduates for positions as graphic designers, production artists, Web page designers, and multimedia designers within a diverse industry.
Upon successful completion of the program of study, students should be able to:
- Create effective layouts and illustrations using industry standard software.
- Design and create Web sites.
- Create and animate virtual objects in a 3D environment.
- Design and create interactive presentations utilizing animations, video, and sound.
- Create and edit video presentations utilizing industry standard non-linear editing software.
- Prepare digital files for pre-press.
- Communicate and develop via hand rendered layouts and story boards of presentation quality.
- Apply graphic design business practices toward a variety of business situations.
- Professionally communicate as critical thinkers, readers, writers, speakers, and listeners.
- Build a portfolio, write a resume, prepare for interviews, and conduct a professional job search.
